You can also book for the minimum rental period and return the van early. However, you will not be refunded for the unused minimum days.

  • Rental rates vary depending on the season, length of the rental, and location. Rates may also be periodically adjusted by us. Your quote is valid for the day it was issued - a reservation must be completed with an initial payment to lock in the rates.

We recommend reserving your trip early - cancellation with a full refund is available up to three days before the start of your trip.

  • Yes, pets and service animals are welcome - a fee of $150 per trip will be applied for trips with an animal companion.

  • All of our vans can go to Canada with no extra charge and no special arrangements.

Only specific vans in our fleet are allowed into Mexico, and special insurance is required ahead of time - please let us know as soon as you book if your itinerary includes Mexico so we can arrange for it.

  • You can cancel for a full refund during the “cancellation period,” which is up to 3 days before the start of the trip, or 24 hours from booking if you booked a trip just a day or two in advance.

After the cancellation period, you’ll get a 25% refund on unused trip days, or full credit for future rentals (which is transferable).

You may shorten a trip’s length by one day for each rental week with a full refund for that day, starting from day 7. For example - if you booked a 10-day trip and returned on day 8, you’ll get a full refund for one day and a 25% refund - or full credit for a future rental - for the second day.

  • While we don’t yet have the capacity to provide detailed trip-planning services, we offer our renters a free one-month subscription to TheDyrt.com campsite booking tool, and we recommend checking out our itineraries section (coming soon!) for ideas and the iOverlander app for free overnight camping recommendations.

  • While not having a shower and toilet built into your vehicle may seem like a disadvantage at first, most travelers find that with minimal planning, the savings and flexibility compared to driving an RV are well worth the trade-off.

Public toilets are available in all parks, campgrounds, and road stops (gas stations and restaurants). Many campgrounds and truck stops have laundry and showers available for a fee (look for Pilot or Love’s truck stops outside of the big cities), and the vans are equipped with a camp shower. If you are planning to spend more time in cities, a gym membership is a great way to access training and shower facilities.

  • To start your trip, you must have insurance in the primary driver’s name. You can buy insurance from us or use your own insurance, subject to our review and approval. Our vans are licensed as passenger vehicles and should be covered by standard policies; however, we have seen instances of insurance denying claims when they see the word “campervan” on the contract, leaving you to pay the bill – check with your agent to avoid unpleasant surprises!

Our CDW insurance covers damages to our van with $750 deductible, and damages to other people or property (third party) up to the minimum required by state law in the location of an event.

Our CDW insurance does not cover personal injury to the renters, damage to personal equipment or subsequent losses such as missed flights, substitute accommodations, etc. Such losses are typically covered by general travel insurance, which is sold separately.

  • The reservation must be completed and paid in full online before we can release the van to you - we do not allow on-location rentals and cannot process payments at pickup. If you prefer to make a wire transfer or make a cash deposit at a bank branch, contact us well ahead of time to set up the terms.

  • We do not get nor keep your card information – it is processed through a third-party clearing house (such as Stripe), which is highly secured and globally recognized.

  • You only need a DL with a picture from your home state or Country to rent. Please note some states in the USA require an international driver’s license – renting from us does not release you from the state obligation.

  • You are only allowed to drive on public roads, paved or properly leveled dirt roads. Off-road driving is prohibited and not covered by insurance. The vans have low clearance, are front-wheel drive, and are highly likely to get damaged or stuck if taken off the road.

When you are in Central and Eastern time zones, tolls are billed directly to you with a 10% processing fee added, even if your trip started on the West Coast and has a toll pass selected.

  • We will remove equipment only for long-term rentals with an additional fee of $100. Most of the equipment is stored under the back panel of the bed, and the storage space gained from its removal is minimal.
